internet video

a brief history

B3N Media can handle any and all types of computer video. Simply stated, if you can view the video on a monitor, the video can be captured and edited. Video has been my hobby for over a decade. I have an AS in Film Production Technology, a BS in Digital Media, but most importantly, I have the passion for videography that keeps me striving to create the best possible content.

Internet video comes in many different flavors. Here's a few:

  • Adobe Flash - Webpage. Flash is proprietary software. Adobe bought Macromedia so now they own it. It is seen everywhere on the web. The only drawback to flash is that most mobile browsers (iphone, G1) don't display it.
  • Windows Media - Webpage. compression: multiple.
  • Microsoft Silverlight - an up-and-comer direct competition to Flash.
  • Quicktime - Webpage. compression: H.264
  • Real. Who uses this format any more?
  • DVIX & XVID. Two great MPEG-4 codecs. DivX is proprietary software developed by DivX, Inc. Xvid is free software distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License.

Popular Online Video Sharing and Hosting WebSites are:
  • Youtube
  • StumbleUpon
